Continued Legacy: Memorial Scholarship for Youth Development Programs
They say it takes a village.
Hi friends. If you saw the last post, or the post from two weeks ago, you know this world experienced the transiting onward of a tremendous Spirit.
This Spirit in his time here on Earth was my cousin Corey Meskil.
My family is setting up a memorial foundation (scholarship fund) through the YMCA of Southwest Florida, where my aunt has worked for 22 years, and Corey’s mother also worked. Corey was in one of these after-school programs when he was a kid.
Some of their programs offered to youth:
Homeschool programs
Access to two charter middle schools
Early learning program for kids 5 and younger that also provides breakfast, lunch and snacks
Before and after school programs (these programs also provide meals)
Access to participating in sports, assistance with academics, family wellness programs, and most importantly in these times:
Provides kids with a place to go to be SOCIAL and physically active (and have access to nutritional food). We’ve all seen the number done on kids since 2020 with everything shutting down & going virtual, we see it with adults too. This is a place for kids to go to be able to have that socialization, exercise and activity time, both indoors and outdoors.
If you would like to donate to this scholarship fund, you may do so here.
I wanted to send this out to my email list, being that posting on Facebook does NOT work. Social media platforms hide anything with links, QR codes, or anything to do with a donation, UNLESS it was set up directly through Meta where Facebook can collect some money.
So, Substack yet again for the win, being that we aren’t dealing with algorithm here, I am arriving straight to you by the email address you provided when you subscribed.
Corey was a survivor, tremendous light, talented lyricist, rap artist and performer. He was loved by so many people it’s honestly hard to process that people have to continue walking on in this realm without him— at least in the physical sense. His Spirit is nondying and eternal, we remember this.
If you’d like to learn a bit more about Corey Meskil, AKA Meskilator, see the last post and one of his music videos I shared. I will continue to share his music here, as his voice is immortalized in these now sacred recordings.
