Wow this is great! The way you simply explain how to dissolve mountains of obstacles that we can't even fully define is very realistic and human. One step after another! That's what I try every day, but not always with immediate success. One thing is certain, there is nothing we cannot accomplish if we are sure of our energetic powers. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I loved knowing!

That was so interesting. I will give japa meditationn a try. I have collected beautiful malas, mostly as pretty, spiritual crystals. I will make one suggestion which has worked for me. I have switched to rolling my own organic tobacco cigarettes. I smoke less. I like the ritual of the practice. And when I make them myself I save tons of money. One pouch of American Spirit lasts 3 packs of cigarettes. A can is over a carton.. And I do like it better. Just a thought.

That's for my face! It's all about me, the cigarettes, heroin, the restless mind, and the million things to do. I love your headline! To me, not weird at all :) Starting small is probably the best advice. All I can add, is to come to realize that there's nothing to achieve. The problem is that we maintain this fix idea of achieving something; to end up with a certain result. Expecting it to be rewarding, and we get frustrated when it comes differently. To me the key is to just do and to enjoy doing it. Letting go of the expected outcome we cling to. Expectations are killers, especially for someone like me, who maintained a belief of not being good enough. Why should I finish it? It won't be good, anyway. Your epiphany about being capable of finishing a cigarette made my day :) It could have been me :D

I love the parallel to Rosary beads in this ritual.

"Japa Meditation (Mantras)

A Japa Meditation is the practice of using Mala beads and chanting a mantra 108 times. I suppose you could do it for a different amount of repetitions (depending on the mantra) but traditionally, it is 108."

"Start with the smaller things to build the sense of trust in your own energy and effectiveness back up again."

Losing trust in yourself does make it very difficult to commit, I've said to myself many times 'don't bother cuz you'll never finish it'.

You're right, start small so you have some successful results, this is excellent motivation.

I've contacted a close friend and between us we've arranged to see 5 music gigs over the next 2 and half months, I'm notoriously unreliable when it comes to going out but these are local gigs at small venues so I'm pushing myself for this.

Thanks for the tips.

Starting small is great advice. What I also do is try my best to not have expectations of any outcomes of tasks I am wanting to complete. As a recovering people pleaser with ptsd who is still working my way out of an abusive relationship. The intrusive thought(a) of why even try, it won’t be good enough anyway because of so and so approval is not healthy and is a waste of human potential in my opinion. So I will begin incorporating starting small tasks and not caring what social media says about doing any task the correct way by society’s point of view and just put some action behind it.
