The indescribable experiences in life are those that transcend polarity.
Love is one of them.
God is one of them.
Certain flavors of suffering are in this category too.
Grief, trauma, events unspeakable: The moments that change us in this way cannot be conveyed through conversation.
You’ll know when you explain until your lungs used enough oxygen for ten lifetimes, yet they still look at you with a blank stare.
This is why poetry, music, and other art forms are so necessary. Language is limiting at best when it comes to the profound.
Don’t get me started on the comprehension issues we have in society for the sole reason of people playing possum to aspects of reality that make them uncomfortable, which we are met with any time we send an S.O.S from the shadows.
If we do not know how to listen deeply, casting aside our own projections and life experiences, along with the delusion that everyone else thinks and feels the same way we do, then we will never truly know anybody.
If this is the case, then it is a loss across the board, because isolation perpetuates, as does ignorance.
If one lacks the ability to truly see another as they are, then they will also never truly see the nature of themselves, the nature of life, the nature of all things worth seeing.
We ping pong from polarity to polarity because we can predict extremes. We flail in the places the ego cannot go— the unfamiliar.
There is a solution. I’m sure more than one, but here’s something:
Love with a capital L, it is a great force that makes sense of things. As does getting in touch with the part of us that is non-dying, non-born, eternal.
