If you’re a musician or a supporter of independent artists who manage not just their art, but the business of their art (the industry is filled with parasites and savages, so this can be quite intense) — then MAYBE you’ve heard of this:
Bandcamp Fridays. Bandcamp is a music platform where you can actually buy the songs of the artist that they created (for one dollar), and on the first Friday of every month, Bandcamp takes ZERO cut of anything you buy from an artist.
Let me break it down real quick:
Stream our music on Spotify? We are paid $0.0009 per stream.
Stream our music on YouTube? We receive $0.00013 per view/stream.
Stream our music on Apple Music? We receive $0.0006 per stream.
So, this is why it’s a huge deal that BandCamp not only does NOT take a cut of any music purchases on this day, but you can buy any song for one dollar and actually support real music that isn’t controlled by a dark agenda and falsified with excessive vocal tuning. You can also purchase our entire discography at a discounted price.
People talk a lot about community building, parallel economies, etc. — if you find value in music and don’t want to see us musicians replaced by AI, then support a musician today with less than you’d spend on a wash cycle at the laundromat.
If you wanna check out the 18 tracks I have on BandCamp, (some of which cannot be found on any other platform) you may do so by clicking this link right here.
I will add that my music is in a massive “under construction” phase, so the songs you see up there now? That will be the last of their kind, as a much different undertaking has begun, but I won’t speak publicly on that yet.
Drop your favorite independent artists in the comments yo. Much love.
Let us not forget that words are spells, and our poetry, our music, our prayers, our devotionals, these are what keep our lives, and the many faces of God ALIVE.
Is there any news on the new owner of Bandcamp? I know that the feeling was they would start changing things when they made the purchase at the end of last year. Hopefully they keep it as is but that rarely happens in acquisitions.
