Hurricane Milton - Resources for Evac and those who are staying put
If you're not in Florida yourself, you may want to show this to the ones you know who are
Hurricane Milton, evacuation, communication and shelter resources as of Monday October 7th - this will be added to / updated or new posts will be released:
FLORIDA: If you are evacuating use this - there are already road closures and gas stations out of gas everywhere -
If your county has evacuation orders in place & you need help getting to a shelter call 800-729-3413.
For people with radio (and some other communication resources) if cell service goes down:
If you have an iPhone 14 or later, upgrade to latest iOS, it can be used as satellite phone when no service.
MAKE SURE YOU TEST THIS CAPABILITY BEFORE YOU RELY ON IT. Have a backup - two is one, and one is none when it comes to preparedness.
The satellite Hurricane radio station is 184 and provides 247 updates
If you have a hand crank radio or regular radio or radio in your vehicle that you can still access after the fact - get your local stations figured out now. Here are some below

Evacuation Orders:

Please understand a hurricane on an already extremely vulnerable area is one thing -
surviving without electricity, supplies, water, food, medical, gas, phone service/comms, or services of any kind for an extended period of time, and all the things that come along with that scenario, is entirely different.
We just got hit with Helene, and water levels where itβs said to make landfall in the Tampa Bay / Sarasota area are high as hell from TS Debbie,
supplies are already low because of the port strikes plus tons of donations to help everyone who lost everything from Helene last week -
people are starting to panic and gas stations are out of fuel in the Sarasota areas as well as parts of Hillsborough county, make sure you get fuel immediately and keep cash on hand, no power means no debit card and no ATM.
Lots of road closures already and accidents, lots of mandatory evacs now in place, make sure you use https://fl511.com for live updates on road conditions, you do not want to get stuck somewhere. Double your expected travel time at least.
Get out now or plan on staying where you are (or at a shelter) - do not be on the roads within 24 hours of landfall.
Your life is more important than any material belongings or literally ANYTHING. Do not fuck around with this.

Nice ya my teams who are south of this thing will be on the ground trying to evac those who canβt get out now. We will do what we can to help. Hope everyone with the means to leave does leave. But they are out of fuel almost 80 miles in every direction from Tampa already β¦. so Many will be stuck Iβm sure. Say some prayers for them and the ones who just cannot afford to evac.
