The slide guitar is the roadside motel with bulletproof glass and no lobby
the reverb, echo, distortion,
underwater heaven liberation,
tears of soul, rise of heart, suspension of trouble..
removal of reservation and boundaries as the gypsy in me drops the knife and spreads wings,
butterfly box cutter switchblade yogini,
floating in orange dusk,
oppressive heat gives a strange love..
you came here to die,
I arrived a skeleton.
…
hello friend. you will betray me in the end, but still, it was magnificent, so, hello friend. Now we come alive as the ghosts tell their story the sun, orange blood, Tapatio love, this is what a dark night of the soul is made of you came here to die, I arrived a skeleton.. hello friend, you will betray me in the end.. but nevertheless, hello, friend..
those words came through (some of them at least) when Cris Cordero, the instrumentalist on my album, was writing one of the guitar riffs. We had a riff on repeat, with the trippiest reverb / distortion pedal effect, that it immediately transported me to another dimension.
Much was written. Many lyrics, many prose, much poetry, some went into the song, some did not.
This did not.
But it must go somewhere. That is why we are Instruments of the Force, is it not?
Love this! 💕
Since it isn't going on the album, glad you shared. Also glad you shared what sparked the lyrics. Beautifully dark and enchanting.
