On the eve of the winter solstice, I could not go to bed without sharing something with you great Substackians.
Heads up, the Kundalini solstice retreat does start tomorrow night, patrons will get a window inside that kaleidoscope of a three day experience.
In these precious times, we go within to the infinite sacred darkness from which All things manifest.
We can also reflect, and remember. Remember who we are, and why we’re here. The Truth, which is so many expressions of Love. With that said:
For all my truth seekers, conveyor belt rejectors, pioneer pirates and rebel hearted kinfolk, this is for you:
This is a song I wrote and recorded called Alien Tumbleweed. It spawned from a conversation between me and my best friend, who had both been through the wringer in trying to outrun tyannical vaccine mandates and passports in 2021, homeless and job losses and a few other curveballs galore, we found ourselves on the opposite ends of the country.
I bounced to a red state where they weren’t on that stupid shit. She went out into the country. Yet, we came together, for a freedom festival that would change the course of both of our destinies.. and continues to do so. More on that below. For now, frens, celebrate yourself: this song is for EVERYONE who has chosen to walk the path of what they know to be true and just, especially when it means you walk alone, and have everything about the life you once knew stripped away.
If you don’t like YT, you can listen here too, or any other platform you stream music on:
The freedom festival we met each other at was FloteFest, in a small town I can’t even remember the name of in Texas.
The people I met there changed my life— most of them are still part of it.
I even had the honor of meeting Freeman Fly, and purchasing a hard drive of priceless documentaries he’s created over the years.
It’s also where I first got involved with Freedom Cells, but certainly would not be the last. Same with Food Forest Farms, and eventually led to linking with Living Free in Tennessee, and the Self Reliance Festival. I guess I haven’t gotten into it much on Substack because I’m not used to having an internet space where I’m not censored instantly but, there are many many great people doing great works that I’d love to share here.
This song came from a text I sent my friend Chelsea, who is the same woman I shared the sobriety anniversary podcast here with, as we both got sober in November of 2009 and have known each other the entire time. She is also the one who introduced me to Kundalini Yoga.
I was in Tennessee at the time and she was in Oregon. We’d moved around soooo much. Things were still uncertain, we were both getting into preparedness,, and a bit of fear and uncertainty set in… but we were no strangers to this.
I sent a text saying:
“Soon one day, we will all be together in a place that’s fuckshit free”
Profound, right? 😆 But that’s where that line in the chorus of the song came from. Soon, one day, we’d find our home, and we wouldn’t be having to outrun tyranny. We’d have the resilience built up to truly create the sovereign vision we, and countless others, still have to this day.
The good news? Lord I haven’t had so much of a “fuckshit free” life in a LONG time — the way things are now, and the person I am now… I haven’t experienced before.
On top of that, I now live in a beautiful part of Florida where the vibes are mystic AF. 🐊
This is a result of never giving up and always seeking the medicine in the shadow, showing up to IRL events even when you don’t know a single person and connecting to people — and when someone (me for example) royally fucks up and makes bad life choices and descends into hellfire, taking the opportunity to become reborn and using it as a platform for our highest elevation — it works.
I don’t suggest doing it intentionally, as you can transform/heal without getting involved in super harmful shit, but if it happens, know it’s a massive opportunity. Some of my greatest blessings have worn the disguises of my worst nightmares.
we don’t listen when they tell us how to dream
no this simuluation’s not to be believed
came up bein' the ugly ducklin’
so we trust our alchemy
self-made swans, never, cut their own wings
we live a free life, yes it’s unpredictable…
so we find the anchor, we need,
within our souls 😎
