Algorithm Ghetto - LIVE in Tampa!
My first time performing Algorithm Ghetto to an unsuspecting (yet awesome) crowd in Tampa, FL
Hi friends!
I am here to share with you the first ever live performance of Algorithm Ghetto. This is a milestone for a few reasons, one being that it’s the first time I’ve performed my music live since leaving Tennessee in 2023 - that’s a long time, and it’s good to be back.
I’ve been performing my spoken word poetry over the past months, that’s my comfort zone - so it was to my surprise that this wound up happening, as it was entirely unplanned.
The I Am Poetry Show happens once a month in Tampa. It’s a tremendous place for artists to share both spoken word poetry and music. I was planning on doing poetry that night, but wasn’t sure which pieces to perform.
Here’s an idea of what the vibe is like. Video was taken about an hour before show started:
So, earlier that day, I prayed, meditated, and then a few “signs” came through.
I checked my phone a few hours later to find texts from different people asking about Algorithm Ghetto. One was making a comment about it, and the other directly asked if I’d perform it that night. Shoutout to Supernatural Raquel for that.
To me, that was my answer. It scared the hell out of me, I did not have time to rehearse or even warm my vocal chords up, I was not expecting it and in no way felt ready.
What I did feel was that I was supposed to do it, for some reason.
So, I went with the two text messages after I’d opened the question up to God on what would be most beneficial to share that evening.
The full video is for paid subscribers, but I’ll share a clip of the video with everyone first.
This was a trip because, well, we all know what Algorithm Ghetto is about: The technocratic dystopian new world order of course!
However, going and performing that in a city where you do not necessarily know the audience can be intimidating, so this is how I remedied that:
It didn’t make the nerves go away - I was actually incredibly nervous the entire time leading up to this, and surprisingly the whole way through as well. Normally once I get to a venue, the nerves drop. That did not happen that night, and something else happened for the first time as well.
I will get into the story of what that was, along with sharing the full performance video with patrons of this publication below.
Everyone else, it’s been real! XO
I will later share little mini clips of the footage publicly here for all, it’ll match whatever I put on social media, once I get around to it. I am still recovering from a gnarly cold. Luckily I got sick about 24 hrs AFTER the show and not before.
But as far as front to back unedited footage, from when Raquel started recording to when she stopped, that is reserved for Patrons, and people who COME TO LIVE SHOWS IN REAL LIFE!!
XO Love you lots
